Santanderina Group takes part in COP25, the 2019 Climate Summit in Madrid

From 2 to 13 December, Madrid is hosting the 2019 Climate Summit (COP25), where the top world leaders and main environmental protection organizations are getting together to talk about the climate crisis and complying with the Paris agreement.

Organized by the United Nations (UN) since 1995, the Conference of the Parties (COP) – the supreme body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) – has become one of the most important dates in the international political calendar. It is expected that, with the problem of climate change already officially recognized, directives will emerge from this summit to tackle an increasingly serious climate crisis and stabilize greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Santanderina Group, which has been working in the textile industry since 1923, will be present at the COP25 session on 9 December, taking part in the FICCA (Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Change) and specifically in the Decarbonization and GHG Emission Reductions group.

In 2018, there was a deep, exhaustive analysis to identify formulas with which the textile and garment industry and fashion in general could move forward towards a holistic commitment to climate action. Along these lines, companies that support the FICCA are continuing with their aim of achieving 0 emissions by 2050.

Santanderina Group, with a recognized commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility represented in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), has been a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact since 2002 and works closely with Fashion for Global Climate Action of United Nations Climate Change.
